“25 Divas Live! Your -Fabulous -Diva-Living -Next -Door -Jive”!

“25 Divas Live! Your -Fabulous -Diva-Living -Next -Door -Jive”!

Ciao bella,

Beauty is the in the eyes of the beholder, as they say. At least it does for authors John DeVito and Frank Tropea. Publishing The Immortal Marilyn: The Depiction of an Icon; and Epic Television Miniseries: A Critical History with great success, they are incorporating a new project #25divaslive with friends and relatives alike.

Their New upcoming book and exhibit will celebrate 25 Legendary Divas. A special literary tribute for each Diva will be presented. Then their fabulous photographer Jefferson Ariaga will present a photographic tribute of a real live Diva of today paying a unique visual tribute to the Diva of the past! Simply genius!

I was a Diva for a day as Mae West. Let me tell you a bit about that. I greeted everyone in a rose satin dressing gown Mom gifted me on one of my Christmas Birthdays. The star vibe was kicking in.

With my makeup done I was put in a sexy black lace negligee, something Mae would adore. Marisa Ciarlone, the Art Directer slipped on a huge blonde wig ... red feathers adorning! Elbow length pink gloves graced my arms! The bling sparkled out loud!! Rhinestone’s dazzled in my hair and almost every finger! “Alexa” was playing Mae West songs in the background thanks to my husband David.

I dressed up as Mae West one Halloween many moons ago. I remembered many of her quotes and shared them with present company. “When I’m good I’m good but when I’m bad I’m better!” I was truly transported to another time! A magnificent Real Baby Pink Fur stole was wrapped over my shoulders, all I could hear was the clicking of Jefferson’s camera ... I was posing and in another world outside my bedroom where this transformation was taking place! It was a memorable moment for a gal who just celebrated a huge birthday recently. Click, click, click, was a kind of music to my ears. With every click I Was Mae West!

“Goodness Mae, what beautiful diamonds” “Goodness had nothing to do with it!” Looking forward to viewing the other Divas ... Katherine Hepburn, Liz Taylor, Jackie and Rose Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe of course!, Marie Curie, Billy Holiday, Maria Callas, Mary Magdalene, and more!

Stay tuned my Glamazons ... I couldn’t have done it without you!

Buona Giornata and God Bless the USA!

The Beauty of New Orleans

The Beauty of New Orleans

Ciao bella,

So off the beaten Beauty track of magic potions I divert into the beauty of travel to a unique place.

As I still lounge here in my scenic hotel room facing a double view of The Mississippi River in New Orleans, Louisiana, I just finished watching a documentary Kevyn Aucoin Beauty & The Beast in Me, a native of “The Pelican State” (Louisiana). He was the makeup artist for the supermodels and stars of the 1980s and ’90s. Fabulous story that’s a must see!

New Orleans is still in the midst of it’s makeover from Hurricane Katrina. The devastation was unimaginable here. I’ve spoken to many people who went through it. One bright element that hasn’t changed is the spirit of the New Orleans people.

There is so much laughter and kindness here from all angles. Could be the food! As you travel around the city you can smell the delicious flavors of cooking wafting through every neighborhood. One thing I can say is New Orleans knows how to cook!

From Emeril’s (a Massachusetts native) to Popeye’s Fried Chicken, the cuisine is outstanding!

The grittiness of Bourbon Street attracts all the party goers! All kinds of music from jazz bands to pail drums can be heard on the street corners and inside pubs. Specialty cocktails, beer, and wine can be purchased street side and carried out. The bright colors of purple, green, and gold adorn not only people but the balconies and galleries of the wrought iron buildings New Orleans distinctively owns. For all the glorious gaudiness of the tourist area New Orleans also boasts of blocks upon blocks of homes of elegant refinement.

In The French Quarter, I love Rue Royal ... that’s my kind of street that has a magical aura about its shopping. The stores are street level and so inviting with spell bounding window decor.

I’ve also been fascinated with New Orleans above ground cemeteries. We visited where Ann Rice developed her vampire characters and where "Interview With A Vampire" with Brad Pitt was filmed. Families with a tome are buried one on top of each other, saving space! After all New Orleans was once a swamp and below ground burials were impossible due to the water issue.

We left Boston last week at 4 degrees! Here in The Big Easy it’s been a balmy 58 and 60 degrees.

Oh, how I’ll hate to leave this seductive, thrilling, and warm place! It’s been a great getaway, however, there’s nothing like home sweet home!

So my Glamazons I hope I took you away for a few moments to another place!

Stay warm and remember spring is around the corner!

Stuffed from Beignets!!

Buona Giornata and God Bless the USA!

Happy New Year ... or is it?

Happy New Year ... or is it?

Ciao bella,

Once again, another year has closed. And once again, we are at the crossroads of “what can I do to be a better me?” I realize that the first traditional resolution is “I must lose weight” ... an absolute fail for all of us! Right?

So instead of the latest diet trend, I want to initiate the most important aspect of feeling better ... Eating better! This just may promote the goal in which you want to achieve.

The standard American diet consists of carbs, unhealthy fats, and processed foods. This way of eating increases “cytokines,” which are substances in the blood that produce sky rocketing inflammation making you susceptible to chronic pain. Find foods with anti-inflammatory effects. Recent studies have proven that a Mediterranean diet rich in Omega-3 fatty acids is key. Eight to twelve ounces a week of fresh or frozen fish fillets and shellfish are a good way to start. Also, canned salmon, tuna and sardines, walnuts, ground flax seed, chia seeds, leafy greens, broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower are great. Stay away from foods high in Omega-6s, such as deep fried foods, mayo, and salad dressing. People that follow a Mediterranean diet have better heart health and less risk of acquiring dementia. Vegetables and fruit should rock your world!

Next up is getting enough sleep. I don’t know what it is ... but my iPad is always calling me just as I should be going to sleep! Very bad ... since the blue light in your device is a calling card for a sleepless night! So take a magazine or book to bed and, nighty night.

Sleep deprivation is most common at a certain age, however, it can be overcome with patience, a little bit of Melatonin and meditation. Hitting the sack at the same time nightly is necessary to keep your body in sync. A great night sleep is key to enjoying the next day and all its glory.

So my Glamazons ... hope these beauty tips will get you on track and stay there in the coming year! Have a beautiful one!

Buona Giornata and God Bless the USA!

Beauty is ... Vacation!

Beauty is ... Vacation!

Ciao bella,

Once in a while, I’ll stray from Cosmetics and the best one of the day.

I want to take you on a vacation journey! There is so much beauty in this journey beyond the visual aspects.

In September my husband David and I vacationed as we do every year (for me over 40 years) in Provincetown, Cape Cod. We stayed at our favorite hotel The Crown and Anchor.

Upon our arrival, I remember dropping my purse and walking straight out to our private deck overlooking Cape Cod Bay. Our quarters had more than a room with a view! For starters, we had an electric fireplace, which warmed us up on one rainy afternoon. Watching the blaze made me remember that winter was well on its way.

Cocktails were in order!

Our private deck occupied with a table and chairs looked out over Cape Cod Bay. Watching the tide going in and out was mesmerizing and reminded me of my mindfulness.

I would leave the door open at night and the smell of the salty, sea air fi lled my lungs with a medicinal quality. The sounds of the splashing ripples were like a song. Waking every morning from it, I felt healthy and energized.

I adore "people watching." So, I would fi nd a comfortable spot on Commercial Street and watch and talk with people. Interacting with their lives gave me a warm feeling. I love people. I even scored a few phone numbers. For me it's an uplifting experience to share stories of our wars and loves.

The different foods that have become our favorite in Provincetown were savored delectably. From our Spiritus Pizza party on our deck to dinner at Karoo (So. African fare) in Eastham a few towns away from P-town. Since our trip to Cape Town, South Africa, we like finding the cultural cuisine.

We also connected with old friends and thoroughly enjoyed their company. Reminiscing on the past year and what's ahead.

Arriving in Provincetown is like no other entry I've experienced. The small little huts on the left side greet you with sand dunes and beach grass on your right. The sand dunes are pyramid like and it is forbidden to climb up or down them. A youthful habit I'll always remember doing for the thrill of it all!

So far, I have hit on the beauty of our five senses! Never take them for granted. Next time when you're on Vacation, stop and grasp the beauty!

Buona Giornata and God Bless the USA!

Face Masks ... Once a Week!

Face Masks ... Once a Week!

Ciao bella,

I've always enjoyed a nice Face Mask. From Queen Helene (the green clay one) to a home made one made of whipped egg whites. The benefits are remarkable as long as you have the patience. I can even remember the Thanksgiving when my husband David, Dad and I were invited to a Thanksgiving feast for 40 people to a friend's castle in Ashland for the afternoon. I told the fellows we must all do a Blueberry Face Mask to feel and look great. We all laughed out loud with our blue colored faces! Our skin felt divine afterwards. Between the Blueberry Face Mask and all the laughter it was exhilarating!

There are many different kinds of Face Masks depending on skin type. Here are some tips to help you chose:

1) Clay -- is number one to help us reduce shine and for absorbing excess oil.

2) Green Tea Mask -- helps protect skin from pollutants, sun, and free radical damage.

3) Alpha Hydroxy Mask -- minimizes signs of aging while removing dead skin cells for a glowing complexion.

4) Benzoyl Peroxide Mask -- kills bacteria, clears up acne and prevents future breakouts.

5) Hyaluronic Acid Mask -- plumps skin cells acting like a sponge that absorbs water 1,000 times it's weight. Great for dry skin.

6) Charcoal Mask -- like a vacuum for your face. Rids it of dirt, impurities, oil, and makeup.

7) Vitamin C Mask -- for a more even skin tone and to brighten up a dull complexion.

Hope you enjoyed all these tips on how to choose the best Face Mask for you! So my Glamazons ... now go out and get Masked!!

Buona Giornata and God Bless the USA!

Micellar Water ... You Should Be Using It!

Micellar Water ... You Should Be Using It!

Ciao bella,

Popular for decades in France, Micellar Water was developed because the Parisian water was considered to be harsh on the skin. The negative effects on the skin included dryness and blemishes. Skin experts got together and voila ... Micellar Water was formulated!

Use by Holding and Pressing with a cotton pad into skin ... do not rub or scrub.

Micellar Water is a system of 'micelles," which are tiny balls of cleansing oil molecules suspended in soft water. The "micelles" react to picking up oil, dirt, and impurities in the skin without leaving your face dry. Also moisturizing!

You can find Micellar Water now here in USA just about everywhere. It has been a remarkable discovery in the facial cleansing industry. Integrating a unique technology that is by far steps of progress in the Beauty world.

Micellar Water is kind to all skin types. Pick out the one for your particular skin type. My experience using Micellar Water is that I'll use it to only remove face makeup after I’ve already removed my eye makeup (mascara, eyeliner, and shadow) with a Gentle Eye make-up remover. Press on, hold MW, and do not rub. Then I cleanse my skin with a mild cleanser. Patting dry. Naturally, applying my eye cream, serum and, moisturizer.

I find for myself that not all Micellar Waters remove mascara, especially waterproof. I also feel that the work of a cotton pad just doesn’t thoroughly cleanse. One exception is if it's one of those late party nights and that's all you have time for, it'll have to do!

Also for a busy morning to cut down my routine I'll use only Micellar Water to cleanse. You can also fi nd towelettes for travel to make your trip easier!

Happy Cleansing from me to you my Glamazons!

Buona Giornata and God Bless the USA!
