Hair Will Always Be Your Crowning Glory!

Hair Will Always Be Your Crowning Glory!

Ciao bella,

"The day I don't dye my hair is the day I can't get my hands over my head." -- quote from my classmate Kathy's Aunt.

When I first started out in Cosmetology I serviced clients all day by styling their hair. I did everything from men's haircuts (my specialty) to ladies roller sets, tinting and perms. I enjoyed all of it. When teasing the hair while using spray lacquer (hairspray) I could create so many different styles. High beehives, prominent waves, updos with curls and bouffants were an everyday challenge. It was instant gratification for me as a creator and my clients who could see in the mirror and critique! Certainly a different way of styling from Mom and Nana's talents of machine-less perms, finger waves and pin curls! Their technique served as the basis of stylists today.

Cosmetology has completely advanced coming a long way since Aqua Net, sticky setting gel (Dippity-Do), roller sets and let's not forget pink hair tape to keep those bangs down in place. And oh those "helmet dryers"! I inherited a 1950s model from Mom's shop. It dries my long hair in 35 minutes and its like my own private Idaho -- excuse me honey I can't hear you!

New, exciting and ancient ideas have been springing up from the past! Don't get me wrong I loved owning my own natural nail salon business doing just nails for many years creating nail artistry. However I am happy to be back in a salon, still a nail tech, where hair and master stylists rule. I observe the fascinating technique of my long-time friend, master stylist Sandy. The blonde high lights she paints are so natural and becoming to all her faithful clients. And then there is Belkys who is coming up the master stylist ladder under Sandy's tutelage. She is young and full of pep. Recently I noticed her hair in so many different styles. One week her hair was shoulder length, then the next week her hair was long down her back! It wasn't a wig! It was "hair extensions"! Years ago hair pieces like this were called "switches". Then I noticed different hair streaks, different weeks. And then on a workday when a client was in my manicuring chair, Michael (another master stylist climber) came over to her and nonchalantly clipped in what else but a hair extension to make her coif fuller!

It looked so easy. Just clip in these delightful tresses to enhance fullness, length and color without the permanence of it all!

I can learn a new trick everyday. What's that saying about old dogs?

For exquisite hair visit a Dellaria Salon and make your hair your crowning glory!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America! Wishing one and all a happy, healthy New Year for 2014!

BERLIN BEAUTY!

BERLIN BEAUTY!

Ciao bella,

Just as I descended from the taxi, coming in from Berlin's airport to check in at our hotel, I knew I was going to love this place. Walking toward me was an elderly lady stylishly dressed in black with bold gold jewelry everywhere you could possibly wear it. The gold was stunning and she wore it well. She gave me a big smile, nodded her head and went on her shimmering way! I hope I could only run into her again so we may exchange a few words, "Guten Tag" would suffice. However there's me in 20 years! When you see yourself in someone else it has to be a good omen!

Can you believe there is a huge store in Berlin that carries only NIVEA products? Remember NIVEA hand cream? Picture a whole line of everything NIVEA! NIVEA massages were offered as well!

Walking down our street, Friedrichstraße, while window shopping, we came across one of my fav hand-made cosmetic lines -- LUSH! I happen to be with two new Berliner friends, Maria and Christa, who knew it well! In fact we could smell the fragrance of LUSH at least a block away. Along with my LUSH photo visits now are Hong Kong, Rome, Berlin, and, of course, Boston and Cambridge in USA.

This city gave me a unique sense of Beauty in a historical sense. It was a city of glory with its zillions of magnificent palaces! Colossal and ancient Greek and Roman statues stared me down! Even the statue of Frederick The Great upon his galloping horse seemed to be in command and no one was going to defeat him in any sense of the word. This city was leveled to the ground in World War II and rose up out of the ashes bigger, better, integrating what was left of the old with the new and modern! A city with a determined energy! It has worked in my eyes giving strength and determination a powerful meaning. In another time I could live here. I admire the tenacity and imagination Berlin has held tightly in its grip. I would love to watch this city grow and become just more and more of what it has become today. A Heroine of stamina, the empowering Nike, golden Goddess of Victory, with her four horses and chariot perches on top of the looming Brandenburg Gate and conquered 25 years of a divided city with courage and strength -- we will not be defeated! Beauty lies in strength overcoming adversity and winning graciously.

Travel and discover a world of Beauty for it is out there to nourish your soul.

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

Beauty School-those were the days!

Beauty School-those were the days!

Ciao bella,

Upon graduating from High School I never really yearned to attend college. My Mom, in a most endearing way, had already prepped me to follow her lead and Nana's lead as well -- cosmetology was the profession that suited my family well. It was a prestigious profession. It put money in their hands during the Depression. It built their homes and businesses and sent them to Florida every winter. Nana even worked for a Mr. Valdez in the 40s and 50s in St. Petersburg, taking Mom and the family along. There are 8 mm films with my Mom and Nana going to work under the palm trees with their white uniforms. While Dad was filming my hand remained in my Nano's hand. For 5 years old it was a time I remember well

So started the indoctrination at a young age that Beauty Culture would be my future. I attended M. Fazio Beauty School when I turned 18. Mary Fazio the owner was quite a lady. She was statuesque and always had a smile. I never remember her being angry or upset. My Mom was also taught Cosmetology by her and the instructors became Mom's friends. That was not always in my favor as I had many eyes on me to do well. The final residence of the school was on Essex Street in Lawrence -- The Fifth Avenue of Lawrence at one time. Political destruction was its ruin.

I learned my future there at Fazio's. However it also became "party central"! I met wonderful lifetime friends who established the career woman I would become! So many boys who wanted and became master hair stylists were all my friends. They would dress me up and take me out. They fixed my hair and at one point in time decorated my apartment! They hooked up my stereo speakers and fixed the antenna on an old TV. Ah -- what was life without these dancing partners. And dancing we did, every chance we could get! It was a gay and happy life!

Mom became proud that I had accomplished graduating, and in time owned my own Natural Nailcare salon for 13 years.

I shall always remember the disco days dancing through Beauty School.

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

Nail Files-an important tool!

Nail Files-an important tool!

Ciao bella,

Most of the time we take the "little" things we use in our daily lives for granted. Imagine life without a Nail File? When you're done clipping your claws what would you do to shape and smooth them?

Marie Antoinette was obsessed with her pencil like pumice stone that she used to file and shape her nails. She started a feminine trend in the French Court of Versailles where the ladies were admired for their well-shaped nails.

A foot doctor in the 1830s designed the "orange stick" from a dental tool that woman used to file their nails. Thank you, Dr. Sitts! At a time before this discovery, women used many methods to take down long nails including acids, different metals and scissors! Yikes! In my nail-tech profession I treat Natural Nails gently as enhancements to a person's hands.

The modern Nail File was developed at the end of the 19th century. There are many kinds of Nail Files depending on the need of what one desires. The "old fashion" emery board may still be popular however if you are trying to grow nails I would consider them too course with a tenancy to dry out the natural nail.

When filing always use light strokes in one direction only. Crystal files are best for home use and are quite durable. Also known as a glass file, they are made of tempered glass and have a granular surface best used on Natural Nails.

Buffers have a light abrasive and are used to bring nails to a high-shine. Files used professionally by Manicurists are also a great find for home use as they are designed to the needs of each individual with many grit surfaces to choose from.

When choosing a file for your Natural Nail make sure the grit (surface) is extra fine. Your toenails may need a medium grit since they are usually tougher. Files are an important treasure in our everyday lives. Now go out to your fav Salon and get a professional manicure and experience a fine treat!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

Strong, Beautiful Hair - make yours "Living Proof"

Strong, Beautiful Hair - make yours "Living Proof"

Ciao bella,

Technology in just about everything these days has exceeded my expectations. One giant step in particular is "hair care". Expert stylists and scientists equal brilliant science! This team of inventors from MIT patented new molecules that completely change how hair behaves! Their simple ambition was challenging conventional wisdom to solve tough beauty problems. This is not a traditional beauty company, instead it rethinks conventional wisdom found in science and brains! They believe beauty is more than skin deep and every day can be a good hair day. They have made us "Living Proof."

The "Living Proof" story is beautiful chemistry consisting of the invention of better produced, quality hair product with "proof" in a bottle. In 2004 Dr. Bob Langer, MIT Professor and world-renowned biotech inventor teamed up with his partners to take a look at the beauty industry and what was actually in beauty products. They realized the same off-the-shelf ingredients were completely inferior to what they believed could turn around the face of hair care. They did it! Their proven patented scientific breakthrough awards have astonished beauty experts. Hair is full, thick with body and volume! Hair is revivable and long lasting! Truly what we are all seeking.

I'm always the first to try a new line of hair care. When I read about the "science" involved from one of our own I was intrigued. With its Money Back Guarantee I felt I had nothing to lose. Experience is the best way to explore product info! Well I've really loved the effects of the way my hair feels. One of its products keeps your locks cleaner! Another handles the "frizzies" pretty well considering I've tried them all for my Italian locks and none have ever really worked. Just a greasy mess! The straighter acts as it says with either wet or dry hair. This brilliantly bulletproof molecule that scientists developed creates a thin shield over each strand of hair and with time strengthens hair making it healthier.

Make your hair Living Proof! Customer service: 1-866-240-9933, www.livingproof.com.

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

Kosmea: to end those dry skin summer blues!

Kosmea: to end those dry skin summer blues!

Ciao bella,

The end of summer can really reek havoc on your psyche and your skin! I acquired a really nice tan this past glorious summer season. I just crave the Vitamin D from the sun and love the healthy glow.

However I woke this morning feeling itchy and obviously faded. Tsk...tsk!

I run to my supply closet and lo and behold I am fully stocked of my wonderful Kosmea to help these dry skin summer blues!

First off I use my SKIN CLINIC RESCUE BODY CREAM-a nourishing all-over body cream rich with certified organic rose hip butter soothes the itch and dryness.

I also come across my SKIN CLINIC RESCUE BALM-a multi-purpose rich balm loaded with certified organic rose hip butter. I use this "I call it magic" for my really dry heels, elbows and spots targeting those tough, dry areas.

Now my face is cleansed with Kosmea's CLARIFYING FACE WASH-gentle and free from sodium lauryl sulphate removing make-up, dirt and skin impurities with never a dry feeling. In between I also use The DAILY FACIAL EXFOLIANT -is non abrasive, gently refining and cleansing with effects of a treatment mask. Then a spritz of HYDRATING ROSEWATER MIST to gently sooth and cool and hydrate tried weary skin. Best when applied just before rose hip oil. Used it all summer for a cool zap of hydration. Perfect for air travel!

To moisturize and renew my face I alternate between my fav SKIN CLINIC CERTIFIED ORGANIC ROSE HIP OIL-rich in vitamin A, essential fatty acids and antioxidants smoothing wrinkles, achieving even skin tone for an instant healthy glow. And the New RADIANCE 24/7 YOUTH BOOST -preserving elasticity and moisture, protecting visible signs of skin aging. Revitalizing the appearance of skin while it smooths fine lines and wrinkles. Also and importantly is KOSMEA'S EIGHTH NATURAL WONDER-a revitalizing, anti-aging facial serum that instantly "lifts" dull and tired skin. Contains unique hibiscus extract to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.

Last however not least is the latest Kosmea product -APPLE OF MY EYE CREAM. Contains PhytoCellTech, apple stem cells, white tea and carrot extracts, rose hip oil and Shea butter to reduce visible signs of aging. You know what they say "An apple a day......"

Now I feel like I can conquer the world! It's empowering to look and feel good!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

No More Lipstick on His Collar with Lip-Ink!

No More Lipstick on His Collar with Lip-Ink!

Ciao bella,

I was planning to write a column on my favorite Beauty products however when I first applied Lip-Ink I realized it was a subject of its own!

Well lipstick Glamazons, they have finally done it, and, with multiple patents, this grand collection of make-up will be around forever. Lip-Ink International is the world's original wax free semi-permanent lip color! I was pleasantly surprised that the red shade I choose could be layered on for a more-or-less color intensity. It does come with its own shine gloss which can also be layered for added shine. The gloss may also be applied throughout the day.

For me, after I painted two applications of Energy Red there was no real dry feeling like after using some lip stains in the past! Truly, easy to use in three steps. Exfoliate with their towelettes, apply color with a few seconds of drying time, then their gloss. Gorgeous lips stay all day! Kiss away with NO smear! Highly recommended by Hollywood make-up artists.

Since it is guaranteed "smear proof" I put it to the real test. I went to bed without removing it! Woke up to see it still on my lips and not the pillow! Lip-Ink has its own remover and comes with your trial kit. Regular make-up remover will do the trick as well. Lip-Ink is USA made, Organic, Kosher, Vegan and Natural claiming no preservatives. They carry almost 100 lip colors to satisfy everyone's palette. You can also try their semi-permanent liners, brow and lash tints as well as face blush and bronzing gels!

So go swimming and feel like Ester Williams or kiss a guy and know your lipstick will stay with you and not his collar! Find this amazing product at www.lipink.com.

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

Beauty is La Familia & A Family Heirloom

Beauty is La Familia & A Family Heirloom

Ciao bella,

I'm taking a detour from beauty creams and beauty advice this week so I can elaborate on a source of beauty "La Familia."

I adore my Mom's first cousins. They really were there for me with their unconditional support when I decided to leave home at 18 years old. No nice Italian girl leaves home at 18 unless she's headed down to the altar. Even if you enrolled in college you better be close so you 'll be home in your bed every night.

Those cugini are on my "A list." I had to deal with those relatives that loved me however didn't like me for my decision to be on my own. Freedom is a better word. Ah, what price freedom? It was all worth it! The California cousins and their lifestyle evolved around the more open-minded way of thinking -- my kind of people who accepted my decisions with enthusiasm and encouragement. It is important to be close to family if you can so long as there is no senseless drama, jealousy or lunacy involved in the relationship.

When something becomes so much work it is better to walk away and cherish the memories past. Keep an arms distance to well your heart. There is so much of life to live and experience joy and peace of mind. Last fall I met a new cousin for the first time in Los Angeles -- my sweet and precious cousin Jessie C., who grew up in San Jose. She brought into focus the importance of family no matter how far. Her Grandfather Paul (one of Mom's first cousins) and myself have kept in touch for years -- so close and yet so far away however always in my heart.

Jessie C. and boyfriend Rob were helping out Robs' Aunt Rose run her restaurant in The Hamptons, New York -- Amagansett to be exact. A summer trip was planned to visit this grand place on God's fine earth. In this paradise I connected with Cousin Jessie's Dad, Gregg (cousin Paul's son) and her brother Waite. It was magical for us to experience this family reunion.

During a family dinner in Montauk I presented Jessie with a family heirloom. A hand-crocheted white coverlid made by her great-great Aunt Connie C who had made it for my Mom Josephine. Jessie and the great-great aunt share the same last name!

The delight and smile of appreciation from Jessie said it all! Everyone can have loads of friends however blood relatives who are in your court are a treasure to behold. If you're in Amagansett and you want a fabulous dinner go to Sotto Sopra on Main! Tell Aunt Rose I said hello!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

Kenneth Battelle- Hairdresser to the Stars 1927-2013

Kenneth Battelle- Hairdresser to the Stars 1927-2013

Ciao bella,

This past spring we lost another true servant to the beauty world. He acquired many accolades in his long & outstanding career. In 1961 he won an award for hairstyling making it a key element of current fashion. Vogue magazine predicted that anyone who is anyone will have Kenneth design a hairstyle for them.

After serving in the Navy he attended beauty school much to the dismay of his mother. He worked hard climbing the ladder to success at Helena Rubenstein's Salon. That is where he was introduced to Jacqueline Kennedy in 1954. He created a whole new look for her with big rollers, thus her famous bouffant! He restored Marilyn Monroe's tresses with conditioning and soft waves. Lucille Ball named him "God". Other celebrity clients of Kenneth were Brooke Astor, Lee Radziwill, Katherine Hepburn, Judy Garland and many more! He served all the grande dames of Manhattan

He showed woman that bleaching, perms, and hairspray were unnecessary in achieving their final style. He went for a more romantic look and introduced more use of the roller set creating natural looking waves. His beauty parlor located at 19 East 54th Street was set up as a place for fun. Almost "club like" with a circus ambiance of wild colors and patterns, all the while serving tea and finger sandwiches.

Kenneth accompanied Marilyn Monroe to the movie set of "Some Like It Hot" starring Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis. He also groomed her coif for President Kennedy's rally in May 1962 at Madison Square Garden where she performed "Happy Birthday Mr. President ".

There is so much more to Kenneth Battelle's life as an inventor of modern hair. Humble as he spoke this line, "What I do," he said, "is only a shampoo away from being nothing".

I truly wish I could have shook his hand thanking him for making the cosmetology world a successful place to work for myself and my fellow cosmetologists.

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

Hair Pieces..........no rugs please!

Hair Pieces..........no rugs please!

Ciao bella,

Coming from a three-generation family of cosmetologists, I always remember my Nana and Mom changing their hair color and styles frequently. Streaks of blonde, shades of auburn, puffed and teased were always there in capturing a look. One day Mom came home with a fancier bouffant than usual. Big high waves and dips accented by a fan of blonde hair sweeping through her deep brunette front bang! I knew that her and Dad were attending The Dahlia Ball. Her coif looked perfect with her emerald green gown of chiffon and taffeta! It was the first time I saw a "hairpiece." That sweep of blonde was attached to a pin and carefully tucked into the roots of Mom's real hair. Then her hairdresser proceeded to design her masterpiece coiffure with Mom's instructions. Stunning!

Recently I tried to help a friend out with her hairpiece. It inspired me that while I was looking for her I found some interesting hairpieces for myself in my exact color! Truly a lifesaver with the hot and humid weather we've been experiencing. Just pull up, tuck in my own hair and clip on or pin in the different style piece to fit the day's activity or mood! Curls, waves, ponytails and chignons of hair that will grace and frame a face!

One hair guru Ken Paves brought back the "hairpiece" they call "hair extensions" today. In 2004 he started moonlighting creating "big beautiful hair" on strippers for star stylist "Oribe" in Miami. This job paid $75 a week! Pave studied at the Vidal Sassoon Academy and the Tony and Guy Institute. He traveled with other celebrity hair stylists doing tours of Europe where Pave created hairstyles in sync with couture collections from Versace and Valentino. In 2006 he was in partnership with Jessica Simpson his latest star client and launched a line of clip-on hair extensions for home usage and everyday wear. So if you think it's time for a nice cool "do," clip one on and look elegant or just simply cool. Simplified hair is just what we deserve!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

HAIR REMOVAL.......ouch!

HAIR REMOVAL.......ouch!

Ciao bella,

I've been fortunate when it comes to hair. I was born with plenty of it on my head. My crowning glory! My legs and eyebrows were never really a problem. Experienced a bikini wax once because everyone else was doing it! Painful! After all being Italian there are some seriously hairy girls out there! It's part of the culture and genetics. I have a cousin who was born with a head of pretty blue/black hair! According to my Mom it was beautiful. However you can only imagine the bodily hair problem she experienced in puberty on. She carried around a "wax" remover at all times. Her life revolved it! What little hair I've had I waxed and threaded it all to death. I hardly have any now. And what I do have is light and fine. So keep on removing that hair from the root and you may never have a hairy problem again. After all that procedure keeps hair gone for a few weeks. Shaving only removes hair on the surface. Grows back quick in a day or so. The myths for shaving are it will NOT make hair grow thicker or courser or grow more. Only removal by the root may lessen growth in time.

Here are a few hair removal methods salons offer. Some I'm sure you are most familiar with.

WAXING: most popular, hot wax is applied in direction of hair growth and removed opposite of hair growth.

SUGARING: sugar stays at room temp, sugar-based paste removes hair in natural direction of growth.

THREADING: a fav of mine for perfect eyebrows! A tradition from Middle East and South Asia. Intricate use of thread removing hair from root.

LASER HAIR REMOVAL: great for dark hair, requires several sessions for long term results.

ELECTROLYSIS : uses an electric with a fine needle destroying hair follicle and hair's growth center.

TWEEZING: used by the Romans, completes other removal services, good for eyebrows.

So as I end this column I will be getting out our new Gillette Proglide Styler ( my preference of hair removal) and make ourselves slick and smooth for our Provincetown vacation! I suggest you do the same!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

Pool /Beach Bag and Lush at The Beach 2013

Ciao bella,

Beauty Secret: Water

Beauty Secret: Water

Ciao bella,

One of my first Beauty Culture Columns I wrote going back 10 years was about water. The Romans and the Greeks kept a strict protocol and fondness for their H20. To them it was a prized possession! Meticulous strategies of cleansing were routine.

The importance and necessity of water is endless. The therapeutic value by just taking a bath or shower may be cleansing on the exterior however your mind can be also purified. Personally whenever I need a pick me up I find a shower/bath just the right medicine.

The temperature of the water as you test out your first step sets the tone for a true indulgence of privacy and inner cleansing. My outdoor pool club and its huge body of water has always satisfied my mermaid fantasies as well! The feeling of touching water and feeling it's clear, fluid gold is an elusive experience. Touching the intangible. Cool and warm water remain so close to each other. Each carries its own health and beauty qualities. Immersing yourself and letting your body feel the freedom as the water caresses you with that "Calgon Take Me Away", an old and still true phrase. A lightness is experienced with a million miles left behind. Throw in a few fresh rose petals to scent the experience!

Drinking this wondrous nectar works its magic as well. Quenching the pallet, clearing the complexion and keeping our bodies running smooth. Water is a treasure in itself waiting to be held, touched and savored. Experience the true blessing we use everyday!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

Kiss and Tell

Kiss and Tell

Ciao bella,

The marvel of lipstick! It frames our face bringing out our best features. The color we choose establishes a first impression. It could turn you into a Natural Beauty or a Sultry Goddess! It's important how people see us. It's empowering to make ourselves look and feel our best. Color on my lips has never failed me. Sometimes it's all you need for a quick errand. However I'm seriously talking color, gloss and shine to make a statement. For forever I have always favored bright, deep reds and burgundy plums. Just a few times I tried pale gold, a pearly white and a baby pink. The pale gold was shimmery and really pretty however not on my lips. Friends thought I looked ill.

Until recently my fav colors are orange/red or a pink/red. They make a statement for sure! My confidence in whatever I do shines within me.

I am truly an Ebay surfer! I shop for everything here with fantastic luck. There are dozens of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia. From embroidered towels, a dollhouse size pin up calendar (which I own) to swatches of her clothing for sale! It's all very daunting. Then I came across a Marilyn Monroe lipstick/makeup line of cosmetics! Outrageously priced!

I'm the gal who is happy with a couple of great tubes of color from Duane Reade at $3.99 each. A drugstore makeup haven popular in New York City. It was too late to think of my budget as my finger pressed Buy Now and I was on my way to lipstick land where in black and white Marilyn was featured on the box and tube. My auction prize was delivered quickly. Carefully opening the box I spied a set of perfect lip prints! This was not going to be an ordinary lipstick application! And it wasn't! It was true devine! The creamy orangey red glided on with a matte glaze. It was love at first sight. I glanced in my mirror once again. Was it the new lip color or my smile that right at that very moment I could conquer the world!

Feel the power and feel great!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

Feed Your Face Inside and Out!

Feed Your Face Inside and Out!

Ciao bella,

After a long, dreary winter we must lift our spirits and hail to the bountiful harvest spring and summer delivers to us! A bounty to feed our face and bodies to feel and look as good as we possibly can. Here are some tips to keep a youthful glow.

Berries carry powerful antioxidants to give complexions a healthy boost that protect skin cells.

Dark Leafy Greens contain Vitamin A to repair acne and promote skin repair.

Organic Green Tea: one or more cups a day helps to ward off skin cancer and reduces visible signs of aging.

Olive Oil has Essential Fatty Acids that promotes elastic, dewy skin strengthening our cell membranes producing radiant and nourished skin.

Walnuts (also salmon) contain Omega 3 oils for flexible, younger looking skin.

Here are some snacks to fight wrinkles that are antioxidants:

  • Dried apricots or carrots = beta carotene

  • Avocados or apples= lutein

  • Watermelon or cherry tomatoes=lycopene

The best "food" for your skin is Water. Drinking enough is the key to beautiful skin (and kidneys)!

Got stress! It is a sure aging factor. Healthier than a martini! Try RESCUE GUM by Bach! A homeopathic remedy developed over 70 years ago that will keep you calm and in control!

PURE HEAVEN FACIAL MASK: Mix together an egg yolk, yogurt and some honey, let it reach room temperature. Apply to face and neck, rinse with warm water after 15 minutes. Leaves skin soft and nourished inside and out!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

Simple Cleansing is not Enough!

Simple Cleansing is not Enough!

Ciao bella,

Recently I discovered another wonderful cleansing and massaging routine to make my skin feel and look younger! This is an advanced cleaning technology beating out competitors with vibration therapy reaching deep skin layers that are sometimes neglected by the skin conscious!

Body Essentials Facial Brush and Massager has changed the way I cleanse my complexion. Our skin is made up of 3 main layers. The Epidermis, the Dermis and the Subcutis. With the patent pending deep cleaning action of BE's Facial Brush & Massager you can achieve healthier, younger looking skin simplified. In our Epidermis, the outer skin and protective layer contain cells called keratinocytes producing a strong protein forming a flexible outer shell. As younger living cells from the lower portion of the Epidermis rise to the surface the keratinocytes die off. This skin renewal happens once a month. The Dermis layer thickly contains collagen, blood vessels and white blood cells to help protect infectious microbes. The collagen gives our skin strength and firmness. Elastin fibers which are protein allows skin its elasticity. As we age the collagen and elastin break down causing fine lines and wrinkles.

By using BE's Facial Brush and Massager your skin cleansing is more effective, thereby producing superior, healthier skin by deeply cleaning skin layers that cause fine lines and wrinkles. By cleaning the Epidermis and the critical Dermis correctly with BE's Facial Brush & Massager you are nourishing the Dermis layer leading to healthier, more youthful looking skin!

This facial brush and massager contains attachments for applying creams and massage nodes for extra stimulation. Affordably priced! Pick one up today at www.bodyessentialsforyou.com and feel the good vibrations!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

An America Scented State of Mind

An America Scented State of Mind

Ciao bella,

We all love nostalgia! One form is "scent". Possibly a scent from childhood, your first home, a vacation that holds a special place in your heart or a state where you you lived.

"United Scents of America" has developed a nation of fragrance. Truly remarkable perfumes evoking atmospheres of unforgettable places in the United States. Entrepreneurs Sascha Bertran from New York and Samantha Sherwin from New Jersey have already bottled 7 states of scented nostalgia!

  • Walk the Freedom Trail with Massachusetts. You'll find a spot of tart cranberry.

  • Stroll the beach with Florida. Orange, grapefruit and sea breeze are a few of the perfumes top notes.

  • Travel to California with a blend of coconut, eucalyptus and vanilla bean.

  • For a New York state of mind -flowery and citrus notes are blended perfectly.

  • Deep in the heart of Texas are bottom masculine notes of cedar leaf, amber and white musk.

  • Want to take a walk down the boardwalk? Try New Jersey-scented after it's concession stands! You get delicious and lots of compliments!

  • Hawaii is devine with pink plumeria, night blooming jasmine as top notes. The heart notes are golden pineapple and papaya. The bottom note is coconut palm.
Try them for the thrill of it all! You can find these unique scents in our own North End at Shake The Tree!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

Breathable Nail Polish!

Breathable Nail Polish!

Ciao bella,

Certainly the first of its kind, it was developed by a Polish company. Heeding the needs of women who wanted a healthier alternative to traditional nail enamel, Wojtek Inglot, a Polish chemist and entrepreneur, listened. It lets air and moisture pass through to the nail! This new and highly recognized development of nail polish has caught the attention of Muslim women from all over. With strict rules for praying 5 times a day and a pre-prayer that requires washing the hands and arms, traditional nail polish has been restricted since it prevents water from making contact with the nails. An Islamic scholar from the United States recently tested its permeability and found it complies with Muslim law. Naturally a trigger in sales over the internet for the Breathable Nail Polish "O2M" symbolizing oxygen and moisture is giant.

The nail polish is a final life achievement for Inglot who has been the recipient of several business leadership awards. He started his enterprise in 1983 when Poland was still under communist rule making it an international success. He received a Polish award last year praising him for "proving that Poland is a country where innovative technologies go hand-in-hand with beauty." At present his company has shops in over 50 countries, including one in Times Square in New York City, and boutiques in malls from Moscow to Istanbul to Dubai. Just when I think everything is already invented that could be invented brilliance has a way of surprising me.

This step is also a remarkable triumph for Muslim women who can now enjoy wearing nail polish in many different shades and still hold true to their faith!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

The Pedicure in all its Glory!

The Pedicure in all its Glory!

Ciao bella,

One of life's most beneficial and desirable pleasures is The Spa Pedicure. Maybe a scented candle or some incense fills the room taking you to the place of its scent's origin. The candle flickers as you immerse your feet into warm, swirling, fragranced water, tumbling around your toes and starting to soften the skin. Feet are dried as toe nails and cuticles are tended to. Rough heels and callous spots need to be gently pumiced. A foot mask should be applied using warm towels. There are a few really good masks that will seal in moisture and deliver valuable nutrients .A clay mask made of Bentonite and Kaolin contains minerals from volcanic ash, beneficial to the skin. Yogurt is also an ingredient found in some foot mask products. The proteins in the Yogurt help to mildly exfoliate dead skin cells revealing younger fresh skin. After removal of the mask a massage will follow. The massage should be heavenly applying technique on legs and feet. The foot massage is quite important since it incorporates a low-grade form of Acupressure. That is why everyone feels an all around euphoria after a Spa Pedicure. There are pressure points on the bottom of your feet and your hands that heal the body. Nowadays Nail Techs are incorporating different themed scent-u-al Pedis such as real Papaya, Roses, decadent Chocolate, Coffee, etc.! Really dreamy!

As the stress of the day is released from this healing service, recognize the value of The Spa Pedicure! Call for an appointment today!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

Be My Valentine -- but wait let me get ready for bed!

Be My Valentine -- but wait let me get ready for bed!

Ciao bella,

I can remember when I was in my teens my "Beauty Rituals" consisted of washing my face with Dove soap (Mom used it faithfully 'til I showed her better!) and brushing my teeth. Remember most skin products just coat the skin. Make sure your daily Beauty Ritual cleanser and moisturizer contain penetrating qualities that will protect and add natural ingredients to plump your complexion. Mom always told me we were lucky since we inherited good Italian skin or so she thought. Actually we needed more than relying on our heritage! Only she was so light she could never sit in the sun for a minute. In her younger years she learned the hard way after all what sunscreen existed in 1940! Her Nana had velvet skin well into her winter years and wish I knew her Beauty Rituals. However that was Great Nana! Beware of the sun! Always use sunscreen. Kosmea now has a Moisturizing Cream with SPF 30. Find a Beauty Ritual that contains natural ingredients closest to what your skin produces naturally.

At the first sign of "crows feet" Mom was always trying a new and expensive Beauty Cream! Finally my knowledge into the world of Esthetics including facials and pore refinement proved beneficial for us both. It always seemed the best products were from another country (i.e., Kosmea from Australia). Mother enjoyed her milky-light skin, practically wrinkle-free by experimenting with all kinds of makeup and color. She was satisfied. However today there would be so much product she would have her eye on. I counted six concealers in her makeup cabinet one time! At a certain point or age in life I feel concealer is a very important part of a Beauty Ritual. A nice soft color applied under eye with ring finger, blending well then a dusting of light yellow powder! Instant youth!

Mother's consults with me would be inevitable! I truly miss the opportunity! The memories of Mom and our beauty cream try outs bring me back to an evening on Valentine's when she should have been ready for a romantic evening however instead she had gone through her Beauty Ritual and she was ready for bed alright-face mask and all! Everyone have a lovely Valentine's Day! For more Beauty Tricks call or email me anytime!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

Pretty Is In The Writing

Pretty Is In The Writing

Ciao bella,

When I say 'writing', I don't mean email writing! Oh the days of a hand written letter. I remember receiving them, perfumed, with sealing wax. Delicate penmanship scrolled out feelings of desire and happy days planned gone by. Best wishes of the day and thanks of appreciation could be touched and reread with an awareness of the paper it was written on and the color specially chosen by the writer.

The heart thumping of a love letter. What other organic material can get a rise out of you like a love letter? The feeling of the paper as you run your fingers from side to side wondering how not to destroy this perfect square. Tearing paper asks what is here speaking just to me. Words written in one's hand can be so sincere, so honest, so powerful reaching its goal of infinity!

The sense of satisfaction when I put down the pen is a Beauty gadget all its own! A silent Beauty treatment that quenches the mind thirsty for attention. A reward that is pleasing to bear the hands 'gift of writing.

So pick up a pen and scribble away your best one yet!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!
