Beauty Tips for Winter 2024

Beauty Tips for Winter 2024

Ciao bella,

How are all my Glamazons doing? Starting to feel dry and flaky? Well I have a few tips for you to look and feel better.

For your lips to feel moisturized and soft, find a couple of lip moisturizers to apply over lipstick or just plain.

For your body, please find an all purpose nourishment. No added paraffi ns or wax. Some kind of cream that will absorb into your skin and soak in leaving a velvety touch.

For your hair, you need to spray a tiny bit of Olive Oil. Brush your hair well, shampoo and style as usual. No hot hair dryers please!

Your nails by now are exploding "a description" my husband uses often.

Cuticles are dry and need to be pushed back. Just use a bit of Olive Oil and use to push back cuticles. You'll also be nourishing your nails. Give it time and you'll see.

Your welcome for your beatification tips -- anytime.

Happy winter to all my colleagues -- love Mary

Annual Pool Bag Necessities 2022

Annual Pool Bag Necessities 2022

Ciao bella,

Summer is finally here! It may be hotter than Hades; however, we must be prepared. Please note that this is my Annual Pool/Beach Bag review and all you'll need to make your summer "fun in the sun"!

Here are a few items to keep things going smooth.

1) Sunscreen is number one for protection from the sun. SPF 30 with limited exposure.

2) Hats are great sun protection. Some have sunscreen built in.

3) Water to stay hydrated throughout the day. A frozen water bottle will last the whole afternoon.

4) Sunglasses are a must ... eye protection and fashionable. I must own over 35 pairs!

5) Towels ... I need a few to stay comfortable.

6) Lip Sunscreen for added protection for those kissable lips!

7) A Cover up for after a full session of sun or cool breezes.

8) Towelettes are handy to freshen up! A New product that’s out is "busy Beauty Showerless Body Wipes" Tried and true from me to you! Great after sun bathing for a quick clean feel.

9) Pack of tissues to wipe away whatever!

10) Hair brush/comb to touch up and refresh the do!

11) Insect Repellent for the beach bums. I've yet to see a mosquito by the pool. So, hope this review helps in enjoying a great summer.

Now that Memorial Day is behind us, we look forward to June, July, and August sun and fun. So important to be prepared for lovely summer days! No stress, just lounging on your lawn chair for fun in the sun.

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

Summer Beauty 2021

Summer Beauty 2021

Ciao bella,

Here we are with a special season of warmth and sun. So much Beauty to capture the special moments. Fresh air is less likely to transmit the pandemic.

We may have to wear masks again, however, there is so much to enjoy and celebrate this fantastic time of year! Summer will be ending soon ... so let’s get it on! The dog days of August with that blazing sun is a natural disinfectant.

I’ve been enjoying outdoors and our Cabana with pool life. Oh, how I’ve missed these fun days … grilling, lounging, tanning, and swimming. (I walk in the pool and fi nd it great exercise) The salt water pool is also a Beauty asset.

It’s been great reconnecting with my Cabanaland friends. All with same woes and discontentment of this pandemic! However, we must focus on the positive aspects of living our best life. The reconnection with people brings Beautiful smiles.

There are so many outdoor activities to do here ... And outdoor dining is all over, better and improved.

Jumping into a car, taxi, or Ride-share and get out of town. Safer outdoor activities than indoor. There are so many different and interesting places to discover. Or an old hang out you used to consider your stomping grounds! I’ve been thinking of Salisbury Beach. I spent so many summers there. Sometimes my parents with grandparents in tow would rent a cottage ... so much fun with the fam. Then my parents invested in an adorable trailer and we would park it at The Salisbury Reservation for almost the whole summer. The meals Mom put out there tasted the best ever. I think it was the healthy, salty, beach air.

As I got older, I would spend several days at a time with my cousin Marilyn whose family owned a beach cottage in Salisbury. Memories we all took for granted. These nights, I fall asleep with all the recollections of those days. The beach sun and the ocean water are really so good for your skin! My cousins also had an awesome outdoor shower!

No phones ... only the pay phone I would have to call my Mom and my boss ... oh, I’m staying an extra day!

Open windows with beautiful breezes. The smell of flowers blooming in the air is hypnotic. A Beautiful sense of reward abounds!

Go out and Relive those memories and capture Summer at its finest Beauty

Is Your Summer 2018 Pool/Beach Bag Ready?

Is Your Summer 2018 Pool/Beach Bag Ready?

Ciao bella,

It's that time of year again when we start to cherish the next few short months.

David is getting ready to open our Pool Side Cabana. The piles for "fun in the sun" necessities are taking over our apartment! This year we also invested in a mini air conditioner in a 1960s mint green! The shower/changing room can get a bit warm. Oh, the comforts of home!

I'm getting my pool bag ready. Now there are so many fabulous bags to choose from that I found it hard to pick one. I think I'll go with an old standby. Plenty of inside pockets with one on the outside.

So, what you take inside is very important for a relaxed and safe day:

1) Sunscreen — start off with an SPF 30 and limit exposure, re-apply after swimming, follow manufacturer's instructions carefully.

2) Water — stay hydrated throughout the day. Pop a water bottle in the freezer so it will stay cold for a longer time at your sun spot.

3) Hat — good protection from sun rays and makes a fashion statement. I also wear a turban to protect my locks.

4) Sunglasses — eyes are important to take care of while in the sun. In fact the sun is strongest in summer months. Pick out a few fun pairs and show them off!

5) Lip Sunscreen — before you hit outdoors, exfoliate your pout, apply lip color, then sunscreen for lips.

6) Cover-up — when you’ve had enough sun, use a nice opaque cover-up.

7) Mat/Towel — absorbs sweat and wet bathing suits.

8) Brush/Comb — for your hair to refresh the do!

9) Insect Repellant — it's not necessary at the pool ... in fact I’ve yet to see a mosquito at the pool! However, the beach is another story ... so for you Beach Bums to keep clear of green flies, and no-seeums, don't forget your Deet! (Safe to use) 10) Pack of tissues/handkerchief/wet ones — to freshen up!

So my Glamazons that’s the list for this year. See you at the water.

Buona Giornata and God Bless the USA!

Muslin Cloths

Muslin Cloths

Ciao bella,

I can’t express how important it is to wash your makeup off every night! Bacteria buildup and broken eyelashes are just a few of the consequences when your face is not cleansed every night. Even a day spent busy without makeup must be cleansed to purify your skin from those outdoor radicals.

So lately I’ve been looking into the best way to cleanse. A Muslin Cloth has been a solution. These woven cloths have been around for centuries. However, they have made a comeback. Not like cleansing brushes, which can cause breakouts due to bacteria buildup, the Muslin Cloth offers a cleaner approach to cleansing. They make a great exfoliator. To use, dampen the cloth fi rst with warm water, apply cleanser, and gently massage into your skin. The Cloth will buff away surface impurities such as dirt, oil, left over makeup, and dead skin cells. It can also gently remove waterproof mascara. Great for getting rid of nasty blackheads! Rinse thoroughly. Your skin is left feeling smooth and clean, as the Muslin Cloth is soft and gentle on skin.

Use the Muslin Cloth sparingly, two or three times a week is fine. Always be careful of exfoliating techniques. Never overdo.

After use of Cloth, rinse in hot water with mild detergent. You can also machine wash on gentle in a laundry mesh bag. The Muslin Cloth has a quick dry feature. Just hang to dry.

Muslin Cloths are readily available at your cosmetic counter or drugstore.

So my Glamazons ... go out and wash that mug properly!

Buona Giornata and God Bless the USA!

What's in Your Beach/Pool Bag? Summer 2017

What's in Your Beach/Pool Bag? Summer 2017

Ciao bella,

Well it’s that TIME of the year again gals!! Finally the fun weather is here! Every summer I put this list together to help you with your summer essentials when you are away from home at the water. First, invest in a sun hat! Some already have an SPF of 30/50 in the material! So let’s get it together from the most important stuff down!

First of all, Sun Protection-30 SPF or higher for faces only. Then a 30 SPF or higher for body preferably “water resistant.” You still must reapply! Follow directions thoroughly! Don’t forget your lip protection! Mine is a “pink” zinc ointment—Very colorful.

Sunglasses-can’t choose this year from my vintage collection! I did find stylish “sun” bifocals for reading!

A bottle of water to hydrate through the day. Put bottle of water in freezer the night before so it will stay cold for your sipping pleasure!

A nice big fluffy towel—nothing like it to lie on/dry off!

A cover-up when you feel enough SUN or that chill you get when you leave the water. I just ordered 2 fashionable turbans for hair protection when I’m hanging in the pool. And since you never know who you will meet in the water, a comb/brush to refresh the coif. Goody has put out a “Spin Pin” to whip up a quick chignon!

An energy bar for a quick pick-me-up snack or some nuts and fruit.

A fav magazine or book when you’re tired of “people watching.”

I always like to carry a spritz bottle with rose water for a quick cool-off! Evian also works well!

Hand sanitizer always comes in handy. The towelettes are so convenient.

This is what’s in my bag-hope it's in yours! Enjoy these beautiful summer days!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

Your Cosmetic Bag

Your Cosmetic Bag

Ciao bella,

It’s that time of year to clean out the old and make room for the new! As a professional, I know that sanitization has a huge effect on our health and well-being. I understand many of us Glamazons can get attached to some fave make-up or cream; however, our old and used stuff goes beyond the expiration date. Hanging on to such items can cause unnecessary drama. All cosmetics, once we open and use them, start to harbor bacteria.

Bacteria can cause unpleasant breakouts, eye infections, and even rashes!

So here is a professional list I go by on how long we should keep our cosmetics and when we should toss them.

Mascara and eyeliner are huge on collecting bacteria. So 3 months should be the limit on keeping and using them.

Lipstick should be tossed between 1 and 2 years. In fact, with some lipsticks, they will have a rancid type odor. Toss immediately!

Face cream should also be used up in 3 months.

Foundation will last for 1 year. When applying, try not to touch tip of bottle/applicator so as not to promote bacteria and cause contamination. It will alsocarry a rancid smell when it’s gone bad. Toss yesterday! Face oil will also be good for 1 year. After that long, take a sniff and you’ll know if it’s useable.

Sunscreen usually has an expiration date and I would go by that. I say 1 year for it. Loose powder is supposed to be tossed after a year as well.

As for your makeup brushes, please clean regularly with a brush cleaner or Woolite.

I hope these tips will keep you beautiful and healthy. It’s a new season and time for a new palette!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!
