Food, Food, Glorious Food!

Food, Food, Glorious Food!

Ciao bella,

I realize some of us are still feeling guilty for indulging on Thanksgiving. There may be a few foods listed here that were consumed. So guilt be gone! Here are some foods for Gorgeous Skin.

Walnuts — just a ¼ of a cup reduces inflammation (scaly skin/redness brought on by cold temperatures). Contains omega-3 fatty acid, a must-have for soft, supple skin.

Cucumbers — made up of 96 percent water. Eating one is like drinking a large glass of water, except with a satisfying crunch! Contains silica, a nutrient that helps your body produce hyaluronic acid. Together with the water, this compound helps cells retain moisture so Skin appears fresh and plump.

Dried Apricots — nibbling on just a ¼ cup gives you a healthy dose of Vitamin A, which promotes the growth of healthy new skin cells. Important to eat in winter when your metabolism slows down, causing dead skin cells to accumulate resulting in a dull complexion.

Turkey — a 3-ounce serving contains over a quarter of your daily zinc requirement, a mineral that promotes healthy skin cells. Zinc may even help to reduce acne.

Papaya — this tropical wonder containing Vitamin C carries potent antioxidants protecting skin from damage that causes wrinkles.

Salmon — top source of niacin, a B vitamin keeping skin cells healthy. Also, selenium, which is an antioxidant protecting skin from sun damage.

Sweet Potatoes — rich in beta-carotene. Converts to vitamin A in your body, helping skin shed dead skin cells.

That's the food scoop my Glamazons ... so go out and eat some!

Buona Giornata and God Bless the USA!

Dry Shampoo

Dry Shampoo

Ciao bella,

You must all remember PSSSSS...T? The first Dry Shampoo we ever heard of ... other than sprinkling your tresses with a fluff of cornstarch. The era was the '60s well through the '80s for PSSSSS...T. We all had long hair in those days and shampooing was not an everyday habit. There wasn't the popularity of blow dryers, nor the professional shampoo and conditioners they sell today to keep hair from drying out. So a Dry Shampoo was great in a pinch.

You just sprayed on the roots and shaft. Leave in for a couple of minutes and either fl uff or gently brush out. The powder from the Dry Shampoo absorbs the oils and outside elements from your tresses. Leaves hair feeling clean, fresh, and smelling fab!

I really like to use Dry Shampoo when I’m not feeling well and don’t want to wet my hair. And also when I’m pinched for time and a last minute event pops up!

There are different kinds of Dry Shampoo with many to choose from now that it has once again become popular.

I’m sure you can still fi nd PSSSSS...T online or at the Vermont Country Store. Speaking of Vermont Country Store ... I had the pleasure of visiting one in Vermont and there are so many good beauty products that go way back to my Mom and Nana's era. Fine stuff!

My New Favorite Dry Shampoo is Living proof®, that's from a wonderful line of hair products made in Cambridge, MA.

So my Glamazons, go out with clean hair always!

Buona Giornata and God Bless the USA!

Beauty Salon

Beauty Salon

Ciao bella,

We just can’t beat this glorious weather! Great for skin and hair! I wish our Cabana was still open so we could catch more sun-kissed breezes. It’s also out there that they might just eliminate Daylight Savings Time. Wouldn’t that be grand? Healthier to experience more daylight, not to mention safer dwellings and electricity savings would be appreciated by all!

I recently attended my Beauty Advisory Board meeting in Andover at The Greater Lawrence Technical School. I enjoy giving back to the community of Cosmetology; being the third generation in my family (with Mom and Nana) to be a part of this community is very rewarding.

There were Cosmetologists there from every age and walk of life. Some just out of school, and others who were lucky enough to have had a career in Paris some time ago, picking up experiences galore! Everyone had so many different opinions. I recommended the Beauty mags for the students — not! Just a click of their phone or iPad is all they need to view a picture or answer a question.

I still love receiving my Nail mags, though. If I see an article I like, I can fi le it away in my Nail mag folder or even bring it into work and show my clients, nicely displayed. Still old fashioned that way! Talking about our electronics ... my Mom’s dilemma in the ’40s and ’50s was that she had to stay in her Beauty Shop all day to answer all the calls. Those calls included potential clients for appointments, salesmen who were showing off the latest Beauty kick, bill collectors, and deliveries. She envied the Answering Machine when it came out, stating how lucky I was to have such a helper! Imagine ...

So my Glamazons ... it’s short and sweet! Stay beautiful!

Buona Giornata and God Bless the USA!

Muslin Cloths

Muslin Cloths

Ciao bella,

I can’t express how important it is to wash your makeup off every night! Bacteria buildup and broken eyelashes are just a few of the consequences when your face is not cleansed every night. Even a day spent busy without makeup must be cleansed to purify your skin from those outdoor radicals.

So lately I’ve been looking into the best way to cleanse. A Muslin Cloth has been a solution. These woven cloths have been around for centuries. However, they have made a comeback. Not like cleansing brushes, which can cause breakouts due to bacteria buildup, the Muslin Cloth offers a cleaner approach to cleansing. They make a great exfoliator. To use, dampen the cloth fi rst with warm water, apply cleanser, and gently massage into your skin. The Cloth will buff away surface impurities such as dirt, oil, left over makeup, and dead skin cells. It can also gently remove waterproof mascara. Great for getting rid of nasty blackheads! Rinse thoroughly. Your skin is left feeling smooth and clean, as the Muslin Cloth is soft and gentle on skin.

Use the Muslin Cloth sparingly, two or three times a week is fine. Always be careful of exfoliating techniques. Never overdo.

After use of Cloth, rinse in hot water with mild detergent. You can also machine wash on gentle in a laundry mesh bag. The Muslin Cloth has a quick dry feature. Just hang to dry.

Muslin Cloths are readily available at your cosmetic counter or drugstore.

So my Glamazons ... go out and wash that mug properly!

Buona Giornata and God Bless the USA!

Hair Length

Hair Length

Ciao bella,

Your hair is your Crowning Glory! You should keep it at a length that is flattering on you. Years ago once you turned a certain age, you had to cut your long tresses. That rule no longer applies! Thank goodness since I love my long hair!

Even in the ’30s and ’40s my Mom seemed to deal with long hair. Women that were way past a certain age really didn't want to cut their long hair. So, my Mom would meticulously pin their hair up off their shoulders. It was a work of art! It was not your everyday up do!

Short hair is easy with a wash and dry feature. Make sure it’s a fitting frame for your face. Visit a professional salon where Pyrametrics is used as a cutting technique and you should be fitted for the right short cut framing your face. A professional from a Dellaria Salon is trained and skilled to give you a flattering shape. After all, it was John Dellaria who patented Pyrametrics!!

My long tresses are work. I must detangle everyday by brushing and brushing, however, very healthy for the hair and stimulates the scalp. After shampooing, you must condition, leaving on conditioner for up to three minutes. Only professional products should be used. The drugstore products just don’t do it for me!

So all my Glamazons ... treat your tresses well and enjoy beautiful hair!

Buona Giornata and God Bless the USA!

ALOE ... 2017

ALOE ... 2017

Ciao bella,

I realize there have been many articles written on Aloe. But I feel that all of you youth obsessed Beauties should know the latest marvels of Aloe.

With over 500 species of Aloe, Aloe Vera is the most familiar one we know and use. Always a tried and true calming ingredient for sunburned skin as well as an aid in healing wounds. Skin Care is its main hold these days!

These days Aloe is a widely used botanically on skin acknowledging its anti-inflammatory properties, inhibiting part of the immune response that encourages inflammation. It controls blood vessel dilation in inflamed areas as well as producing pain-relieving properties. You could call it Mother Nature’s antibiotic!

In Ancient Egypt, it was known as the “plant of immortality.” They would also hang Aloe in their doorways, protecting them from evil spirits. It is said that Cleopatra and Nefertiti used Aloe in their daily beauty routines. The Mesopotamians, ancient Tibetans, and Romans used Aloe to treat a host of skin conditions. No one can identify the origins of Aloe since its cultivation is so vast.

Also proven is Aloe’s ability to help the appearance of wrinkles and sun-damaged skin! Water penetrates down only two layers of skin, while Aloe Vera juice applied on skin is able to penetrate up to seven layers of the skin. By using Aloe on a daily basis, it will help when services are rendered by a professional. The more hydrated and calm the skin is before a professional service, the better the results. Also, drinking Aloe Vera juice has many healthy benefits, including weight loss.

So hop on the Aloe Vera train and get Beautiful! Buona Giornata and God Bless the USA!

Wigging Out

Wigging Out.

Ciao bella,

Please enjoy this delightful tale of when I purchased by first wig.

Your hair is your crowning glory. I don't know how many of you gals out there watched the last season of the New York comedy/drama Sex in the City. One of the characters needed chemotherapy. Naturally, she lost all her hair. So she just really took advantage of her lock-less state and donned a different wig in every scene! It certainly gave me some ideas on changing my look also. So when in New York --do as the New Yorkers.

Passing numerous beauty supply stores, I stumbled on one that I knew would cater to me. Wigs and Plus, at 152 W 32nd St. was beauty queen heaven for me. I'm sure I could have spent several more hours there.

But naturally, I bring my husband David and while his patience is more kind and more allowing than the lot, there is a limit.

Jo, my wig consultant was born and reared in France. She was very experienced and knew just how to fix up the wisps of hair on these marvelous hairpieces.

The price was right and I walked out with a wispy Marilyn Monroe coif! I felt truly great and know now why it's fun to be a blonde!

The price tag on my new tresses certainly cost less than a cut and color at the salon. The quality of the merchandise and service were fabulous.

Did you know that through history the use of wigs go as far back as the ancient Egyptians in 4,000 B.C. Men and women wore a braided kind of blunt style.

Also during the Roman Empire (500 B.C. to A.D. 500) there was a wig popularity with women. Hairpieces were used to increase volume. Color was added for effect.

The French king Louis XIII, during his reign, invented the use of an Allonge wig for men which became an important part of daily dress.

In the 18th century the wig gained aesthetic popularity as a status symbol for both men and women.

So gals out there in bland-land: whether you need to or just want to, buy some new locks and feel beautiful.

Buona giornata.

Make Up Brushes! Use them Wisely!

Make Up Brushes! Use them Wisely!

Ciao bella,

"Brush Up on Your Makeup"
Ever since I can remember, I’ve used Makeup Brushes. Sometimes a finger will do in a pinch; however, the action of using a Makeup Brush is quite profound. I just purchased a brand new set with colors of a pale rainbow, unicorn and mermaid! Makeup Brushes are sold separately and also come in sets.

First of all, they’re great for blending makeup. First your primer before your foundation is applied. Which Brush to use? Experiment, and try each brush that you’re comfortable using to achieve the best results. Then your foundation, a medium size handle with a stubby Brush should do. Blend and blend and blend! You’ll notice a fine, smooth clarity of polish.

The smaller, thinner Brushes are used for eye shadow. Brow bone and eyelids call for a variety of Brushes. How deep, light, frosted the colors you’re using are and how much color is to be applied. Experiment!

Stop by a professional makeup counter and pick up a few tricks of the trade from the gals working behind them!

And then there’s contouring. Temples, bridge of your nose, Cupid’s bow and never forget your décolletage!

Apply blush on your cheeks with a Makeup Brush. From just below your temples to right down the sides of your cheek bone. No apples there, please! Makeup Brushes are great to use in setting your makeup with a powder and/or a highlighting powder.

Keep your Brushes clean with a few drops of Woolite and water.

So Glamazons ... go out there and Brush your face on!

Buona Giornata.

It’s a Frosty Summer!

It’s a Frosty Summer!

Ciao bella,

Everywhere I look, it's Frosted and Glittering make-up! From Lipstick to Eye shadow to Face powder. Here are some tried and true Frosted products!

I know it’s always been around, this Frost, however, more now than ever before. Starting with "LipSense," an amazing Lip Color that stays on and on until you have to remove it! Opal and Pearl are two lovely Frosty colors. All kits come with remover or order separately from loveyourlips0405@gmail.com ... Judy ... Distributor #310137.

Shellac ... the nail color you cure professionally has come out with a divine New color that glistens in the light, called "Safety Pin!"

I've seen Frosted and Glittering Eyeliner from "Pat McGrath Labs." The Gold and Bronze liners are out of this world. As soon as a batch is made... it's sold out! All their products come packaged in a clear-sided pouch with one side Gold and filled with Gold sequins. Hard to come by!

Charlotte Tilsbury is a wonderful make-up line. Very classy and a well-made product. I bought a marvelous Frosty Powder "Skin Gliding Highlighter" that brings out the smoothness of any complexion. I'd almost say it's an illusion-type look! It defies fine lines. Amazing!

Then there are other Highlighters called "Haloscope" from Glossier ... coming in 3 shades. The newest one is Moonstone ... a white frost, great on brow line. Topaz ... I use as a blush and blend in with a brush. Then there's Quartz ... a wonderful highlighter for temples, Cupid's bow, and De Colletage! Always blend!

Cailyn has a Rose Gold "Just Mineral Eye Polish" that’s quite different from the same old colors!

Also in a Rose Gold is a product from tarte ... tarteist Pro...a double-sided eyeliner with one side a Glitter Rose Gold and the other side a Frosted Rose Gold!! Night and day!

jane iredale "Skin Care Makeup" ... has out a Frosty eyeshadow/primer called Smooth Affair that I have in a creamy Lemon ... I just adore it. Smooth and easy to apply! Great for Brow Line.

Bobbi Brown has out an "Illuminating Powder" in Nude Finish ... works great over make-up or alone. Always apply with a brush!

So from experience, these are some of my fave brands and colors. So get in a Frosty mood and get Frosted this summer!

Buona Giornata.

Eggplant has many nutritional benefits inside your body and out. It is rich in water, keeping your skin moist and hydrated. When included in your diet, Eggplant significantly helps you maintain shiny, glowing, smooth skin

Garlic is a natural remedy for blemishes and acne. It has antioxidants that kill bacteria. Rub a sliced clove on your pimple as an effective topical treatment.

Vitamin C is great for the immune system and radiant skin. Look for blueberries, broccoli, oranges, strawberries and sweet potatoes.

Also rich in antioxidants are Tomatoes. They contain Lycopene, which acts as a sunscreen from within and also has anti-aging properties. Gives skin a boost for a fresh glow.

Lemons are also loaded with Vitamin C, which is needed for the synthesis of collegen.

Carrots are high in beta carotene, converted by the body to Vitamin A. Fights wrinkles and improves skin. Spinach, kale, dandelion greens, and asparagus are also rich in Vitamin K, iron and Vitamin A, aiding in circulation, carrying vital oxygen. Vitamin K prevents varicose veins.

Corn promotes radiant skin with its host of vital minerals and vitamins; sweet corn is a must in your diet. Also boosts cell production. Beneficial in slowing the aging process. Apple peel contains quercetin, which is an antioxidant, providing protection against sun damage.

Citrus also fights inflammation, and is also a good source of Vitamin C.

Strawberries may lower risk of skin cancer.

Peppers contain more Vitamin C than an orange. Full of antioxidants, the spicier ones are loaded with capsaicin, which improves circulation and promotes the release of toxins from the skin.

Grapes, known as “queen of fruits,” are full of photochemicals that have been found to have anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-microbial and anti-cancer activity. Healthy is Beautiful!

Apricots have a wide range of benefits. Containing a healthy dose of Vitamin C, its antioxidants protect the skin from the effects of free radicals, which can cause premature aging and skin deterioration.

Also, my family cooked Escarole and Dandelion. Gotta love those greens. My Mom would always say “drink the juice!” She had the most beautiful skin of us all.

So now my Beauties, go out and visit Pasquale next Saturday and feed your face!

What's in Your Beach/Pool Bag? Summer 2017

What's in Your Beach/Pool Bag? Summer 2017

Ciao bella,

Well it’s that TIME of the year again gals!! Finally the fun weather is here! Every summer I put this list together to help you with your summer essentials when you are away from home at the water. First, invest in a sun hat! Some already have an SPF of 30/50 in the material! So let’s get it together from the most important stuff down!

First of all, Sun Protection-30 SPF or higher for faces only. Then a 30 SPF or higher for body preferably “water resistant.” You still must reapply! Follow directions thoroughly! Don’t forget your lip protection! Mine is a “pink” zinc ointment—Very colorful.

Sunglasses-can’t choose this year from my vintage collection! I did find stylish “sun” bifocals for reading!

A bottle of water to hydrate through the day. Put bottle of water in freezer the night before so it will stay cold for your sipping pleasure!

A nice big fluffy towel—nothing like it to lie on/dry off!

A cover-up when you feel enough SUN or that chill you get when you leave the water. I just ordered 2 fashionable turbans for hair protection when I’m hanging in the pool. And since you never know who you will meet in the water, a comb/brush to refresh the coif. Goody has put out a “Spin Pin” to whip up a quick chignon!

An energy bar for a quick pick-me-up snack or some nuts and fruit.

A fav magazine or book when you’re tired of “people watching.”

I always like to carry a spritz bottle with rose water for a quick cool-off! Evian also works well!

Hand sanitizer always comes in handy. The towelettes are so convenient.

This is what’s in my bag-hope it's in yours! Enjoy these beautiful summer days!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

The Delectable Strawberry!

The Delectable Strawberry!

Ciao bella,

It's that time of year again ... Strawberry Season!

So while you’re munching on this amazing little fruit, keep in mind its antioxidant-rich properties and indulge in a Strawberry Facial. For Natural Beauty enthusiasts, Strawberries carry skin-smoothing vitamins A and C, and contain alpha-hydroxy acid that will brighten your skin. So treat your complexion to these soothing Strawberry remedies!

This Strawberry Cleanser will give you a summer glow; In a blender mix 6 fresh Strawberries, 2 Tbs. Almond oil, and 3 Tbs. Witch Hazel. On damp skin, massage into your face, rinse with warm water, and pat dry. You’ll feel and see the difference after one application.

Strawberry Toner; Steep overnight 1/3 cup fresh Strawberry Leaves, and 1/4 cup Cider Vinegar. After straining liquid, add 1/4 cup Rose Water. Pat onto skin with a cotton square. Strawberry Leaves have as much vitamin C as oranges! Vitamin C helps to fi rm your skin. The Rose Water helps to sooth and heal infl ammation, especially UV damage from sun exposure which causes premature aging.

Strawberry Face Mask; 1/2 cup fresh Strawberries, 2 tsp. Honey, and 1 Egg white. Mix in a blender, smooth over a clean, dry complexion ... leave on for 15 minutes, and rinse well with cool water. The Strawberries contain salicylic acid, a natural cleanser and exfoliant. The Honey is a soothing and antibacterial carrier. The Egg makes for a balanced complexion! This mask is amazing; you can see and feel the difference immediately.

So all my Glamazons ... enjoy the month of June with its season's best: "The Strawberry."

Buona Giornata.

The Coconut — It may have a rough exterior, however, don't let it fool you; the inside is filled with a soft milky flesh filled with skin nourishing agents!

The Coconut — It may have a rough exterior, however, don't let it fool you; the inside is filled with a soft milky flesh filled with skin nourishing agents!

Ciao bella,

I adore Coconut! I remember when Mom would purchase one and Dad would go out to the garage with his hammer and nail. All the delicious Coconut milk would drip down our chins. Opening up the hard outside shell, we waited for the soft white flesh that crunched in our teeth. That's my childhood memory of The Coconut. The Coconut now has become a pantry staple and daily skin regimen.

The Coconut is a tropical gem that has been around since prehistoric times. People used it for its Coconut water, meat, and oil. Lately it's been all the buzz. The skin-saving properties have been known to treat very dry skin with ultimate success. The healthy fats are the source of the hydrating properties. You can find Coconut Oil in every skin care product; shampoo, conditioner, body lotions, and complexion care. The Coconut, packed with substantial vitamin and nutrient, has also conquered the anti-aging dilemma as a Fountain of Youth! Considering its antioxidants, claims of slowing the anti-aging process have been proven.

Here are a few fun facts on The Coconut:

During WWII, Coconut water was used as a workable shortterm substitute for human blood plasma, used in emergency transfusions!

India, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines are the three biggest Coconut producing countries.

Over 20 billion Coconuts are grown and harvested every year.

So everyone ... now is the time to get up close and personal with The Coconut!

Wishing everyone a Happy and Safe Memorial Weekend! Remember our brave soldiers who fought and died.

Want to look Younger? Fill out your Eyebrows!

Want to look Younger? Fill out your Eyebrows!

Ciao bella,

information in the beauty world, just to share it with all my readers!

Eyebrows! Again! You may say, however, with careful study, there is a way to look years younger! Full Brows bring balance and proportion to your eyes and face. So be bold and fill out your Brows. No hard Brow pencils, please. With a good shape of a Brow, only lipstick is needed for a next to perfect look!

As we age, our Brows get thin. Overplucking, over-waxing and “thin used to be in,” are the culprits behind our now thinned-out Brows. Thin Brows can make us look older. However, fullness is universally youthful. Remember in your youth when your Brows were untouched and natural? The youthful unspoiled Brow reigned supreme! There is a solution to regain some Brow power back. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a magic potion or growth serum that will grow those beauties back in. So, once again, we turn to our professionals. Your fave beauty counter/consultant can help you with shape and products. And, of course, there are cosmetics over the counter to help build a nice arch and fi ll in your Brows for a more youthful look. I’ve been experimenting with different Brow products and Brow shapes on me and other gals. There is no doubt a difference in the look you can achieve with a few strokes of an Eyebrow Mascara. Just because your Brows have thinned out, you don’t have to follow that line.

Recently I sent away for an Eyebrow Stamp, two shapes, one color. I’ll give an update when I receive it! The before and after photos were amazing!

So my friends and Glam gals, take my advice and get your Brow on!

Buona Pasqua!

LipSense-Staying Power for 12 Hours!

LipSense-Staying Power for 12 Hours!

Ciao bella,

Get ready all of you lipstick Glamazons! This product sold by distributors is quite amazing. As all of you may know I've found different "lip stains" through the years. However, LipSense is the latest and a truly innovative lipstick that stays on your lips, not your tea cup, not on your guy's collar for hours!! It's 100 percent guaranteed.

My High School friend Judy is a distributor and she's been talking about this "Lip Stain" for days. She has a clientele that says rave reviews! I asked her to send me a red shade. You all know me and my Jungle Red. Love it bright and pretty! Of course LipSense comes in almost 100 colors that can be mixed and matched! More fun! LipSense's Glossy Gloss that goes over your color is fantastic and stays on by sinking into the color!

This revolutionary company takes it's product formulations seriously. No Animal Testing No animal by-products ( use of alternative sources) All products formulated with FDA approved ingredients Made in U.S. with strict quality control LipSense contains no wax or lead

They are products that help rather than harm your skin.

You don't have to be a Lipstick Queen to appreciate this marvelous product. It comes in handy for a special occasion. A wedding, anniversary, party, celebration of life or anytime to stay looking great! To feel and look great is empowering! Lipstick will do that!

My first experience with LipSense was on a work day. Up early, washed and moisturized. I used an Exfoliating Treatment on my lips; 1/2 teaspoon honey, 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil and 1 teaspoon sugar. Mix together and gently rub on lips. Rinse with warm water, making sure lips are dry and clean.

LUSH also carries some flavorful, fab lip scrubs!

Then just a few one way strokes with my new Red and applied LipSense Glossy Gloss. (There is also a Matte one) Using their Glossy Gloss cures the lip color. It penetrates the permeable surface of the color to hydrate your lip tissue! Made of Shea Butter and Vitamin E, the longer you use LipSense the healthier your lips will be! Then throughout the day, proceeded to have breakfast, a lunch drink with straw and for supper a 3 course dinner. Never had to touch up my lips, not even a gloss touchup! No way! Not necessary !

My LipSense was still on and bright until I came home and removed it!!

So find Judy at loveyourlips0405@gmail.com -- Distributor #310137 ...and feel empowered!

I would also like to wish my colleagues and fans of The Post Gazette Buona Pasqua!

Sheet Masks — Simple and Beneficial

Sheet Masks — Simple and Beneficial

Ciao bella,

My first experience with a Sheet Mask was quite lovely. It comes already cut out to the size of a face and is usually white. I found it in Filene’s Basement here in Boston. It came conveniently folded up in a plastic case for its one-time use only.

At this time, my Sheet Mask on one side only was layered with antioxidants, emollients, vitamins, anti-aging benefits and included a promise for an instant lift. I carefully removed it from its packaging, since the Sheet Mask itself is quite delicate. It came unfolded and then I applied the wet side to my face. Areas for your eyes, nose and mouth were slit open so you can see, breathe and talk without much difficulty.

After 20 minutes, I removed my Sheet Mask and, following the manufacturer’s instructions, I massaged the ingredients into my skin for at least 5 to 10 minutes. My skin absorbed all the wonderful benefits nicely. I felt like I just had an hour-long facial. Saved $75 or more!

Other kinds of Sheet Masks can be applied over makeup to seal in the product. Keeping makeup fresh-looking throughout the day or evening. Great for those special occasions such as prom, anniversary, wedding day, or just out on the town celebrating life!

I highly recommend Sheet Masks to do at home or applied professionally. They are messfree and just so easy. Also, some Sheet Masks are used as a treatment to exfoliate skin, making skin appear brighter and hydrated and giving it an instant glow that lasts all day!

You can find Sheet Masks everywhere. From your local pharmacy, cosmetic counter or your esthetician.

The Sheet Mask’s properties are so similar to a column I wrote on Keratin Gloves and Keratin Socks. I do stock up on the Keratin, as I know it to be a necessity for my clients.

My clients have given me positive results on using the Keratin Gloves and Socks. Winter can be so drying. We need all the moisture we can get!

Choose your Sheet Mask wisely and get Masked!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

WATERCOLOR EYES Have Made a Comeback

WATERCOLOR EYES Have Made a Comeback

Ciao bella,

Remember that Blue eyeshadow you’d wear almost every day? The fad started in the ’60s for prom. However, each decade owns its shade of Blue. In the early ’60s it was a matte, no shine. It was very light, like a Baby Blue that covered your whole lid! Then in the ’70s, that Blue became deeper. Truly a pretty color. In the disco days of the ’80s, the Blue had a beautiful shimmer-like sheen. Color was applied way above the lash line and fanned out at the corners. Time to dance! A color palette which contained pots of glimmered color was called Stage Light. All so daring, beautiful, and very ’80s! Shine on!

In the ’90s, I truly believe that ladies took a break from the Blue shadow. It zoomed out of style in a nanosecond! I never really saw it much. It wasn’t on the runways, fashion mags, nails, or anywhere. Guess what? This year, it’s back! All shades of Blue! Watercolor Blue, Turquoise Blue, Blue-green, Aquamarine, Baby Blue, and dark Navy Blue for dramatic eyes!

They now can be found in matte or, as I love, a nice Shimmery shade as well as Glittery, Frosted, and/or Shiny. From the drugstore to your fave cosmetic counter is where you’ll score the shade you love. The Blue shades bring out all eye colors!

Last year I purchased a fat Blue eyeliner/shadow pencil which I loved. This year I bought two Bluish/Turquoise liners in a Gel pencil and soft glide pencil. I’m looking toward a colorful spring! My fave Turquoise color that is gorgeous as a liner is a powder I bought in Hong Kong. When used with water, it can be used as a liner ... but who has time? Maybe soon I’ll allow myself more time for that!

So, my Precious, go out and get Blue!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

An Experience of A Lifetime ...the Inauguration of our 45th President

An Experience of A Lifetime ...the Inauguration of our 45th President

Ciao bella,

Post Gazette’s Mary DiZazzo-Trumbull and Dan Hausle from Channel 7 News
Beauty is everywhere as I always say! And celebrating President Donald J. Trump’s victory day was a beautiful day.

We arrived at Jet Blue, my fav airline, from Boston to Washington, D.C. for fi ve nights of celebration. First up, at the airport David and I became instant 15 minute celebrities as Dan Hausle from our very own Channel 7 interviewed us as New Englanders going to D.C. to participate in the Inauguration festivities! I put the word out on social media ... someone record this please! Thank you Phil and Claudia! Cabanaland friends that I can’t wait to party with come spring ... will it ever get here? Anyway we were on the news several times for two days. I say “hello” to Dan every night when the Six O’clock news comes on!

For Inauguration we wore our best duds! From my new Needless Markup’s red chandelier earrings, black velvet, fur stole to a fabulous Presidential tie I bought David celebrating another President elect. The champagne flowed!

Washington D.C. is a marvelous place. So much rich history. We stayed at our club, The University Club, just steps from The White House. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. The renovated room we had was spanking new and comfortable. On our arrival we were handed a University Club “Welcome” bag which included a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne and all sorts of thoughtful goodies.

During our stay in D.C. we visited Martin’s Tavern in Georgetown. Most famous for JFK’s proposal to Jackie! Every table had a politician story of who dined there. The food and entertainment were remarkable!

We also had the pleasure of visiting The Basilica of The National Shrine. Homage to The Immaculate Conception of Mary. Each country had its own Chapel and shrine of Mary with outstanding mosaic work. A modernized version of sculpture and art for the 21st century. Simply wonderful!

Inauguration Day was finally here! The people (the Deplorables) we celebrated with were singing and shouting with glee. We were all so happy and proud. The event touched our hearts. I must mention First Lady Melania Trump’s stunning blue outfit with matching gloves and shoes. She certainly did emulate Jackie Kennedy’s class and sophistication.

I wish this new administration the blessings they will need to overcome the disagreeable ones and to enlighten our country in a positive direction.

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

JOHN DELLARIA... a Master ... a Legend

JOHN DELLARIA... a Master ... a Legend

Ciao bella,

There are some experiences in a lifetime that remain unforgettable! One of those experiences for me was being part of a revolutionary era of hairdressing. On several occasions, I had the honor of meeting John Dellaria. He was a shy, gentle man, with a creative spark in his eyes. We knew he created a style of modern hairdressing and I respected his talent for cutting hair with a whole, new edge. He patented Pyrametrics, a style of cutting hair with a 3-plane system focusing on volume, shape, and layering, creating a haircut that could be easily taken care of at home. He gave the hairdressing industry a new and modern introduction, revolutionizing hair styles.

In 1960, John started his first salon in Boston. His unwavering talent and determination led to an explosion of 20 salons throughout Boston. His first New York location opened in 1980, in a dilapidated part of the city called Soho. With a positive trend for the future, the salon became iconic and the legend was born.

My recollections of John Dellaria included fabulous and trendsetting Couture Fashion Shows held in Boston’s top nightclubs and restaurants.

This was in the ’80s and ’90s and hair was big! The clothes and makeup were outstanding, and beyond their time. A fabulous party was had by all. These tremendous shows were legendary, and have yet to be seen again in Boston!

A pioneer of many talents, he served as The President of Intercoiffure magazine and Fashion Director for six years. Throughout his career, he was recognized for his expertise, commitment, and notable locations, with 55 awards and honors.

Our industry is saddened by the loss of such an iconic figure. A man who transformed the modern era of hairdressing for what it is today. His technique and memory live on through the many stylists who practice Pyrametrics today!

I am proud to have worked in Andover’s Dellaria Spa as a Nail Technician for the better part of my career. A salute to my comrades and clients. Stay beautiful!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!

It’s All About the Base ...

It’s All About the Base ...

Ciao bella,

A New Year makes us all feel like brand new! New beginnings, clean slates, and new makeup with application techniques.

First up, I want to point out that I have been using a “primer” after my moisturizer and before my makeup (foundation) for years. It gives my skin a velvety base before applying my foundation. Primers fill in fine lines and dull imperfections, leaving a canvas to paint as you wish. Most primers are 20 or 30 SPF for sun screen. However, in summer I am au natural, only primer! No foundation.

Application of foundation has become important to achieve a smooth and even surface. Forget using your first two fingers to apply it! Naughty, naughty! My preference recently has been a sponge applicator with a handle. Easy to maneuver around the corners of the nose, and other places hard to get to ordinarily. I used to use a fine, plain makeup sponge shaped like a triangle. Both of these “tools” give a smooth and even look for seamless coverage. Try it damp for a dewier fi nish. Easy to clean with a few drops of Dawn.

I love my makeup brushes! They are great for powders for sweeping, tapping and swirling out to make skin tone even. Powder over foundation seals the deal of keeping makeup on and not sinking into your skin. Of course, moisturizer, primer, and foundation help to keep makeup from sinking, too. Foundation can also be applied with a “foundation brush” for even coverage. There are so many foundations out there. It’s all about what you’re looking for. A daytime or nighttime look. The most Flawless look you can achieve is a spray-on, air brush foundation! You can also try full-coverage, anti-aging formulas. (Test on your jaw line, not your wrist.) Get a glow on with luminous, sheer radiance for a subtle sheen, “a lit-from-within complexion” Visit your nearest cosmetic counter for a professional opinion on these tips.

Hint: Charlotte Tilbury is a fabulous makeup line. There are professional makeup artists on line to help you complete your new color palette. A new generation of makeup, how it’s applied and made to make you look your best at any age! Google it!

So my Glamazons, hope you’re New Year is going swell. Look your best and beautiful always!

Buona giornata and God bless the United States of America!
